This program will help navigate the ever increasing judicial scrutiny around Charter protections pertaining to searches.
In this program learners will be taken beyond the basic elements of search warrant preparation and execution. Structured as an intermediate course, the program will explore the following topics:
• Best practices for obtaining and planning search warrants.
• Current rules pertaining to obtaining and planning search warrants, including understanding Reasonable Expectations of Privacy.
• Focus on structure in preparing an effective and complete Information to Obtain (ITO).
This is a two-day course. Students will be required to complete independent work following the two day instructional sessions.
In order to successfully complete this course, each learner must demonstrate their knowledge by creating an ITO which will determine their final mark.
This program will be delivered virtually, in English.
